incredulous meets amused and it could almost be a clash of titans. an eyebrow arches slightly. her head tilts slightly to the left, off kilter enough to be considered curious.

"are you... scared?" it's difficult to keep another little laugh from escaping but somehow, she manages.

behind her, two automatons loom. one's discolored, larger than the other, and less... intimidating. it offers a little coo while the other is silent. both are a comforting presence for the woman, even if bring two is a little excessive for this. at least she left the third at home?

"no," he says beneath a scowl, remembering his experience with (now roommate) aaron faust, "just don't see why people willingly walk into places like these." he eyes the two giants behind her, acting like bodyguards, but doesn't say anything of it.

[attr="class","illie i"]"why not?" her stare is mostly curious, with a tinge of amusement. his reaction almost feels surprising given their recent face down with groudon. haunted places bother him but facing a legendary titan doesn't?

it's added to his file and the manila folder is left open, not quite ready to close yet.

"a piplup," a pause follows and then she giggles, breaking whatever serious face she attempted. "but i'll take ghosts too."

and as if on cue, a spiritomb emerges from a nearby piece of rubble. the markings on the stone glow a soft purple to match the phantom body it possesses. the smile that rises is excited, perhaps more than usual.

"are you not looking for anything out here, greyson?" she throws words over her shoulder as she shifts closer to the spiritomb. and while perhaps some might be moving in the other direction, she won't. no, it's too cute and the ghost type is smiling at her. the golurks at each side of her body coo in unison. the spiritomb makes a hollow sort of sound back, not quite a noise but enough to pass.

without thinking much of it, she's extending a hand to brush fingers against the rock it calls home.

"this is a nice stone you picked out," she murmurs. it chitters slightly in response. "not a crack in sight either... good choice!"

"there's tons of reasons," he argues, with sighs as he lets it down die. let people have their tastes, greyson. "i'm not really looking for anything specific," he wasn't really huge into the pokemon common around here, "but let me know if you see one of those unown. got a friend or two looking for one."

his eyes widen slightly at the spiritomb's arrival. that was certainly a rare pokemon. good find, illeana. so entranced that he was, he didn't even notice the other pokemon sleeping soundly against a nearby boulder.

she lets that part of the conversation die, in the end. there's no point in beating a dead horse or making him mad.

"you're looking for unown?" her head turns at that. a curious stare follows, as if the thought others are seeking out unown is interesting information. "why?"

a sinistea enters, then, and her attention is stolen by the cute little teacup. it twirls closer. her hand outstretches as a perch and it obliges with a faint smile.

"hi cutie," she murmurs, returning the smile easily. it chitters in an odd sort of way, not quite human but just enough to pass. a little hand releases the teacup's broken handle to run ectoplasm fingies across her open palm.

his eyes follow illeana's interaction with the teacup, before words find him again. "Stormy Silph was looking into them," he didn't add in the well-known fact that moltres was missing. he felt bad about that. "oh, and MATIAS SILPH, too." dude was assembling the arceus damn pokedex after all.

[attr="class","illie i"]the mention of Stormy Silph causes her facial structure to settle into something a little more solemn. she doesn't need to pry further to know exactly why stormy was looking into unown. no, it's a knowledge she's come to understand since the events that unfolded during the soiree.

the mention of MATIAS SILPH, however, catches her slightly off guard. and with a soft hum, she nods, leaving both mentions untouched at the moment.

"yes," she answers with a small smile. "i ran into a swarm of them a little while back. somehow, i managed to take one home. they're weird little things." well, mostly because they just blink and zoom around her lab. the golurks are rather fond of them, though, much to her surprise.

a misdreavus floats by, then, and she's quickening her steps just to catch up to it. the ghost giggles softly in surprise at the sight and slows enough to float side by side.

"hi," she coos. a hand extends toward the misdreavus and it shifts to hover over her open palm. "you're cute." it giggles once more, twirls, and lingers in her presence with a wide grin.

"dangerous too," greyson adds, though he knew better than to tell illeana that. still, a swarm. unown had always been mysterious pokemon, but now that were being wielded as weapons in such numbers? the interest had only piqued across the region.

"which letter did you get?" it'd been by happenstance that he got two of his own, though, he never brought them out. they were a variable he couldn't account for. he wasn't willing to risk anyone else's life on them, either.

to his right rae was illuminated in a soft violet hue, concentrated but neighing in a motion that reminded him of laughter. turning he saw a starmie floating in the air, spinning like that metallic add-on to a cowboy boot. frowning, he tosses a ball at the suspended water-type.

"can we not debase wild-pokemon rae? please?" he gives her a soft pat, sighing.
